Simon's Golf ClubSimon's Golf Club
   Humlebæk, Denmark

Site of the premier Nordic Open — puts Denmark on the European golf map.

In August, 2003, Simon’s Golf Club north of Copenhagen was the site of Denmark’s first regular event on the European Tour, the Nordic Open. The tournament was the coming out party for Danish golf, which, with European Tour stars like Thomas Bjorn, Anders Hansen and Soren Hansen (who finished third in the tourney), has made a name for itself over recent years.

For the pro's, the course has proved fair but on the easy side of challenging. Still, players complemented the course, which, though belonging to an upscale private club, is accessible to visitors looking for a quality course that offers different levels of challenge for a greens fee that is within reason.

Nordic Open Logo from 2003COURSE HISTORY:
Though the course is closely associated with a hotel that traces its roots to 1795, golf wasn’t played on the site until 1929. But it was only after Arne Simonsen purchased the property in 1987 that the vision of Simon’s Golf Club became a project.
English golf architect Martin Hawtree was hired to design the course at Simon’s. Three generations of Hawtree course architects have designed a great number of golf courses in Europe, the USA and the Middle East.
In May 1993, diminutive Ian Woosnam of Wales fired the first shots at the official opening of the golf course, and Simon’s Golf Club was a reality.
Since 1994 Simon’s Golf Club been contracted to host the Danish Open, until the Nordic Open the most important—and the largest—tournament in Denmark.
