Yes, we know there are no shrines among this list. And no slow play and
difficulties getting tee times and no high greens fees. And no required handicap
certification and no pretensions, and no false bravado, and no nerves on the first tee.
And there
are no classic links courses on this list. And no thickets of rough, no Force-Ten winds,
andlook!trees.
For many,
a Scottish golf vacation is one where the golf is the vacation.
For
others a Scottish vacation can include some challenging, inexpensive, fun, golf. The Nines
of the Perthshire Highlands provide this latter experience.

But 9-holes? Don't
real golfers play only 18, 27, or 36 at a time? Yes. And don't they like to play a course
more than once so they can get a sense of its personality, its quirkiness, its challenge,
its uniqueness? Yes, again. Play the nines twice (at least) and get a feel for their
intrinsic Scottish character. Day tickets permit unlimited play on any given course, so
play 36 holes. Will your score improve each time 'round?
Don't think
of them as unremarked and unremarkable courses. Think of them as covering some of the best
scenery in the Trossachs of central Scotland. Through
HOME
AT FIRST, golfers can order the
5-day Perthshire Highlands Golf Ticket for £65 (£13
per day is cheap golf!) or the 3-day version for £40, and play several local courses (including Comrie,
Crieff-Dornock, Kenmore, Killin, Muthill, and St. Fillans) during their stay in the Central Highlands. Play more than one course in a
day, if you like. Or play some days and not others. Combine a day trip to one area of the
Highlands with 9 holes of golf in that corner of the region.
