THE SETTING: Pats
Cottage is set on a small piece of land on main street of quiet Pukane. Thanks to
insulated windows and the cottages thick walls, what minimum traffic travels the
road is not heard inside. Private, off-street parking is immediately behind the cottage.

LOCATION: Pukane is a typical rural Tipperary town in the
scenic center of Ireland. Services in Pukane include 2 pubs (which also serve lunches) and
a small grocery. A wide selection of shops and services is a ten-minute drive from Puckane
at the market town of Nenagh on the
Dublin-Limerick road. Puckanes central location makes it a superb
base from which to explore Ireland from the border with Northern Ireland to the south
coast and across the breadth of the island. |

Day trips throughout Ireland are easily accomplished from Tipperary. But close by you will
find excellent
walking, superb fishing on central
Irelands largest lake, Lough Derg, and great golf. The friendly owners of the
apartment, Ned and Lelia, reside across the street in their own home and serve as
welcoming, informative hosts eager to help visitors appreciate the charms of Tipperary and
the multitude of
touring possibilities in the region. |
|
ACTIVITIES: Pukane offers a wide variety of activities, especially
touring, walking, fishing, golf, and history. Nearby is central Ireland's biggest lake,
Lough Derg, which offers fishing, boating, swimming, and
walking
around its perimeter. There are many
castles and castle ruins
in the region, like the
Rock of Cashel and Birr Castle Demesne,
as well as important ecclesiastic sites, like Clonfert and
Clonmacnoise.
Delightful local pubs
and restaurants provide sustenance from the hearty to the sublime during
active days in Ireland. The region offers excellent dining, and many
restaurants, cafιs,
tea rooms, and |

pubs are
within a short drive of Pat's Cottage. There is always
traditional
Irish music
playing somewhere nearby
in a pub, in a theater, in a town square, or
in a festival. There are local open-air markets in most neighboring towns, and Irish
wooden crafts, woolen goods, and crystal glass are well-known local products.
Golf
is played throughout the region, on unknown, lush, local
courses that will delight all golfers, and on internationally known courses (like
Ballybunion
and
Lahinch) which will
challenge even excellent players. And, if you tire of the scenic beauty and genuine
hospitality of rural Ireland, a two-hour drive brings you to Dublin, cultural center of
the nation and Irish round the world.

"Pat's Cottage in Puckane was an
excellent choice. We traveled every day, putting about 3,000
miles on our Renault, stopping along the way to enjoy places
of interest and views. The Irish drivers were polite with
friendly waves as we passed."
