Getting to/from Nelson:
Most Home At First guests will arrive in Nelson by air from the
North Island. (Flying
between the North and South Islands is much faster and lots easier than
taking the Wellington-Picton ferry: no rough seas or weather delays
either, and costs about the same.) Nelson Airport is a 15-minute drive
from our Nelson lodgings. Other arrivals by rental car, normally coming
from
Westland or from
Christchurch, can expect a 6-8 hour drive from these
points. |

|
Getting around the Nelson region:
Use of a rental car is essential here.
Outside of Nelson, even main roads can be narrow, winding, slow, and
scenic, and, most often, not heavily trafficked. |
