Nearby Terryglass
village traces its beginnings to a monastery founded by St. Columba in
549AD. Terryglass is frequently visited for its harbor on
Lough Derg,
Central Irelands largest lake, which makes the village a mecca for
sailors and fishermen. Despite its small size, Terryglass offers two
excellent eating establishments, the award winning
Paddys Bar
pub/restaurant (with traditional Irish music several times weekly), and
the seafood specializing Derg Inn family-run pub/restaurant
(music performances often). Less than ten minutes south of Terryglass at
Kilgarvin Quay is the gourmet restaurant Brocka on the Water
(great food, no music).
