THE COTTAGES:

Home At First’s Lochside Cottages are set in an authentic stone barn recently converted into three comfortable accommodations with all the modern conveniences. A fourth lodging is the neighboring purpose-built Castle View Lodge. All of these comfortable two-story vacation cottages provide a rustic wood and stone ambiance that reflects the traditional styles of the Scottish Highlands. Each has two double bedrooms (one with double bed; one with twin beds), a modern kitchen, a full bath, and a living and dining area with a wood-burning stove for cozy evening fires.

THE COTTAGES:
at Lochside Cottages and Castle View Lodge have their own home on-site. They take an active interest in their guests, and are enthusiastic and very knowledgeable about Lochearnhead and
Central Scotland.

CASTLEVIEW LODGE

THE COTTAGES:

Lochside Cottages and Castle View Lodge sit on a quiet hillside location with a grand southern view overlooking Loch Earn and the high mountains (and Edinample Castle) directly across the water. The cottages are located less than one-half mile east of Lochearnhead village on the western end of six-mile-long Loch Earn.
Lochearnhead, though just a village, has three restaurants (two with pubs), a post office, and a small store. Driving 10-30 minutes north, east, or south

leads to larger towns of Killin, Crieff, and Callander, which have larger groceries, several restaurants, many other shops, including some noted woolen mills, as well as regional tourist offices for the Trossachs, the Highlands, and Rob Roy country.

THE COTTAGES:

Lochearnhead is within the confines of Scotland’s first national park,
Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. This southern part of the Scottish Highlands is best known for their bad-boy favorite son, Rob Roy MacGregor. Rob Roy is the legendary Scottish patriot whose infamous cattle rustling, inter-clan feuding, and Highland high jinks made him something of a Celtic Jesse James to the Crown’s red-coated army of Scottish occupation. Although it’s impossible to know where his legend ends

and historical reality begins, the Rob Roy story only adds dimension and color to the already mystical landscape of mountains, glens, lochs, heather, and gorse that adorn Central Scotland’s Highlands.
Lochearnhead is virtually the geographic center of Scotland. Its central location makes it a great base from which the Highlands, the Inner Hebrides isles, coastal lands east and west, and the great Scottish cities of Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, and Inverness can be reached in a series of
day trips by car.

THE COTTAGES:

Although it’s easy to use Central Scotland as a touring base from which to explore far and wide, Central Scotland is itself worthy of exploration. The central Scotland region’s beauty, its friendly, welcoming residents, its castles, golf courses, Highland Games festivals, challenging hiking, salmon fishing, woolen mills, cozy pubs, fine restaurants, and many other attractions combine to give it the best of Scotland.
Lochside Cottages and Castle View Lodge are just minutes from the home and burial place of Rob Roy MacGregor, in the midst of superb scenery: mountains, fields, and lochs in the beautiful heart of
Rob Roy country. There are easy strolls and more challenging hikes, as well as superb cycling on dedicated National Route 7 very near the cottages in beautiful Scottish scenery where Rob Roy roamed 300 years ago but would easily recognize today.
