THE ACCOMMODATIONS: HOME AT FIRST’s eight Lakeview Apartments are located in a converted country manor house on a wooded hillside amid the pretty hill country of the southern English Lake District. Each apartment is unique, but all are furnished and maintained to a high standard of quality. Rooms are spacious. There are one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom apartments. Larger apartments may have as many as three bathrooms. Most apartments feature scenic views of hills and a small lake. The estate covers 100 acres of woodland and gardens. Great plots of rhododendron addtremendous color to the grounds when they bloom in the late spring. |

THE SETTING: The Lakeview apartments provide lodging with all the comforts of home. Each apartment is individually owned and cared for, and all have lovely views, as the house itself sits in an elevated position overlooking a small lake, the Esthwaite Water, one of the many of the Lake District. The property boasts 100 acres of gardens and woodlands for strolling and bird watching, and is an ideal central touring base for England’s Lake District and even as far as Scotland’s southern border (Hadrian’s Wall), and Yorkshire’s western edges. |

its more gentle southern rolling hills, framed into fields by
stone walls, to the craggy northern and western ranges of
Englands highest mountains, the Lake District offers a wide
variety of vacation activities. |

prettiest villages in the Lake District, and boyhood home of English romantic poet
William Wordsworth. Because the village has grown so popular over the
last ten years, a large parking lot was built to the east of the
village, and the cobblestone streets are now a mandatory car-free zone
all year round. |

ACTIVITIES: Walking, touring, cruising the lakes, cycling, shopping for crafts and arts, visiting museums, riding steam railways, horseback riding, and climbing mountains are principal activities that attract visitors to the Lake District. Roads are narrow, twisting, and uncommonly scenic. Famously, the beauty of the natural setting of the Lake District is complimented by the charm of its towns and villages. Time moves slowly and gracefully here, at a pace proper for a holiday in such a tranquil setting. |
