ERLING KAGGE: FIRST PERSON TO THE '3 EXTREMES'

Erling Kagge.

ERLING KAGGE.
Before his 32nd birthday, Norwegian Erling Kagge had sailed across the Atlantic alone twice, sailed to Antarctica and back, traveled (with Børge Ousland, see below) without outside assistance to the North Pole, and alone and unsupported to the South Pole, and climbed Mt. Everest, becoming the first person in history to reach the world’s “3 Extremes” (the two poles plus the highest mountaintop).

Kagge, born in January 1963, studied law and philosophy. Since giving up life as an adventurer, Kagge runs his own publishing business in
OSLO, NORWAY. He has written

-
several books, including his positive “Philosophy for Polar Explorers: What They Don’t Teach You in School”, in which encourages individual bravery, independence, discovery, and tackling the apparent impossible in life. He is a frequent public speaker, and is an environmental activist who believes strongly that mankind can overcome the daunting challenges of climate change.
