Europe's largest mountain plateau region is the wilderness barrier between Oslo and Bergen. Much of the region is incorporated into the Hardangervidda National Park, Norway's largest. There are but a few traditional villages and some outdoor resort complexes in this remote, spectacular scenery. Although the region is served by the scenic Oslo–Bergen rail line, it is best explored by automobile.

Lodgings: HOME AT FIRST's lodging here is a family-run hotel on the eastern edge of the Hardangervidda National Park. The hotel provides quality rooms, and and excellent restaurant. Because of the remoteness of the region, evening meals at the hotel are included in the package.
