THE
ACCOMMODATIONS: The Glaziery may be the
English garden cottage of your dreams. Nestled at the end of a quiet, almost secret,
walled passage, itself at the end of a quiet lane, the cottage seems cloistered in
protective isolation. Yet, it is only seconds from the heart of a classically picturesque
Cotswold village full of such dream cottages.
The Glaziery

stained glass windows and art glazier owner
is made of yellow-gold Cotswold stone,
surrounded by trees, and features a private, walled, formal rose garden ensuring privacy
and peace, with a patio for outdoor |

The
cottage sleeps up to four people in two second-floor bedrooms with hardwood floors and
open-beamed high ceilings, both with night storage heaters. One has an antique French
Empire double bed, matching wardrobe and dressing table, marble-topped washstand, corner
linen closet, and night storage heater. Bedroom two has stone mullion windows with a
garden view. Its double bed includes a dark oak headboard made from a carved church
screen. There are two bedside closets, a large mahogany highboy chest, a hanging rail for
towels
or clothes, and a small oak seat. |

Between the bedrooms is a large shower room
fully tiled with a double shower with sliding doors, a pine vanity unit with an inset
basin, toilet, heated towel rail and shaver point. |
|
The ground floor has a well-equipped eat-in kitchen with oak cupboards, electric range and
hood, built-in refrigerator/freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer, and dishwasher.
Spotlights from the open-beamed ceiling keep the room cheerfula pleasant place to
dine for up to four persons. This room, too, is kept cozy via night storage heater.

The large living room is furnished with
antiques,
and has a wonderful old oaken floor covered with oriental rugs. One wall is of
exposed stone and the ceiling has open beams. A large working Inglenook fireplace is the
centerpiece of this room and perhaps of the cottage. Around the fireplace are two
comfortable wing backed armchairs, a settee, coffee table and television. The rooms
windows have stained glass panels dating from the 16th century.
French doors open up from the living room to
the enclosed formal garden with its flowerbeds and patio furnished with wooden and
matching chairs. A car is necessary here, and private parking is available in the
owner/hosts neighboring driveway. |

THE HOST: The
friendly, helpful owner/host resides in a neighboring cottage. The host is an artist who
works in the medium of stained glass. Examples of his work are found in the windows of The
Glaziery cottage, and one outstanding example may be seen in Westminster Abbey. The host
takes an active interest in his guests, ensuring their comfort and satisfaction.
THE
SETTING: Broad Campden is a pristine
Cotswold village comprised of many traditional cottages (thatched and otherwise) of golden
Cotswold stone, charming church, Friends meeting house (dating from the 17th century and
the oldest in England), and a friendly pub offering excellent food and real ale. Broad
Campden is a satellite of the famous Cotswold market town of Chipping Campden. An historic
town that became prosperous during the Middle Ages when the regions wool exports
were desired throughout Europe,

Chipping Campden is today a prosperous touring with its magnificent
church, and High Street full of interesting small shops, lively pubs and
|
|
restaurants. Chipping
Campden may be less than 5
|
|
|
minutes away by car, but it is also within easy walking distance (about one mile) of Broad Campden. The
delightful 20-minute walk to Chipping Campden leads from The Glaziery
through the grounds of Maidenwell Manor with wonderful views of Chipping Campden along the way.
If you like walking, Chipping Campden is the
start of the Cotswolds Way, which crosses the Cotswolds from north to south, ultimately
ending in the famed small city of Bath. Another well-marked long-distance footpath, the
Heart of England Way,

THE LOCATION: For
many, the region known as the Cotswolds represents the best of traditional England.
Extending from Bath in the south almost to Shakespeares Stratford-upon-Avon in the
north, and from the Welsh border in the west to Oxford in the east, the country of the
Cotswolds invites exploration. Broad Campden is in the northern
and
best-known part of the Cotswolds, famed for its numerous villages and towns of
multiple hyphens Stow-on-the-Wold, Moreton-in-Marsh, Bourton-on-the-Hill
and
many others without hyphens
Stanton, Broadway, Chipping Norton, Upper and |

|
Lower Slaughter, Winchcombe, to name but a few. |

Using regular rail services from nearby Moreton-in-Marsh,
Central London may be reached in about 90
minutes. |

TOURING, ATTRACTIONS, AND ACTIVITIES POSSIBLE:
Numerous inviting villages and towns are scattered among the hills and valleys of the
Cotswolds. Open-air markets and antique shops are plentiful throughout this historic
region. Many castles, manors, formal gardens, and grand estates are open to the public.
Walking paths, including the long distance Cotswolds Way, crisscross the region.
Other
outdoor pursuits include horse riding, fishing, golf, sketching, and sightseeing.
Cycling in the region includes on and
off-road routes, and short and long-distance trips on dedicated mapped |

explore great little
Cotswolds towns including: Bourton-on-the-Water, Burford, Chipping Campden, Cirencester,
Lower Slaughter, Moreton-in-Marsh, Snowshill, Stow-on-the-Wold,
Stanton,
Stanway, and Lower & Upper Swell. There are noted castles (Warwick, Sudeley,
Broughton, and Blenheim Palace) and manor houses to explore, gardens to visit, theaters to
attend, and a fine steam tourist short line to ride (Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway). |
