Travel is people. You may go abroad to see the famous sites, but
what you remember best are the people you meet. Among them, like
unexpected treasure, are a few memorable contacts that will make
your travels unique, special, and delightful. "People" is devoted to some
of those you may come in contact with during your Home at First travels.

Zach Elwell likes hot wings better than any other American food. No surprise, therefore,
that this 12-year-old Yank finds spicy Tandoori food much to his liking. When he was in
England last May, where Tandoori-style Indian food is the national craze, hot-wings-Zach
became an instant fan. But, Zach discovered he liked Englands old mainstay food
craze, fish & chips, even better. In fact, Zachs excellent adventure in England
last May was all about his discovery of lots of cool new things and even more cool old
things.
Fortunately, Zach remembered to take his camera along. And what caught his eye might just
surprise you. And inspire you to take the kids along on your next trip to the British
Isles.
"My name is
Zach Elwell...and this year
over the Easter holiday my mom and dad along with my brother Liam and I went to England
for our family vacation. It was my first trip to Europe and I am looking forward to going
again soon. I hope you like these pictures from my trip:

This is the biggest
church
in Chipping
Campden, but
nobody can tell you
where it is.

On our second day
in England
we went
to Warwick Castle.
This is the main
entrance but the
drawbridge and
moat are gone!!!

This is the
courtyard
in
Warwick Castle.
Who would
want to live
in a big castle
and still
have to mow the lawn?! |

The next day back
in the car and we
went to Bath. People come from all
over the world to look at a 2,000 year
old swimming pool. Pretty cool that
the plumbing still works. The king's
spring looked like a very expensive
water fountain in the Tea Room. The
cathedral next door looks really cool
with walls having a lot of designs on them.

The next day we went to Worcester
where
they make
the sauce but we went to this
church instead. Churches
in England are
really cool: they have dead people buried
in the floor and in the walls. Everywhere
you look dead
people. It was a fun day.
We climbed all the way to the
roof and
back down and then got caught in the
rain going back to the car.

Sudeley Castle. This castle is where
one of
King Henry
VIII's wives
lived. Now it is famous
for the
gardens which are really nice.
In the old buildings that they
could not save, they
let the
gardens grow inside. The church
is the burial place for a queen
and is still used
on Sundays! The
fountain is the center of the
Queen's Garden. I hope they have
lots of guys to mow this lawn.

With all of the
tourists going
to Bath it makes
a really nice
square for street
performers like
the guy on
the
unicycle in the
red shirt. |
