THE LOCATION & POSSIBLE ACTIVITIES:
Home At Firsts Coromandel Inn is an
ideal location to base your stay while exploring the Coromandel Peninsula. Not far from
the inn are opportunities for day hikes, gardens to visit, local arts & crafts
shopping, a fascinating tourist railway, local museums, boutique wineries, salt water
beaches, and fishing on the firth. Crossing the mountainous spine of the peninsula is a
challenging, scenic drive that provides sweeping views of both coasts. Once on the eastern
side of the divide you quickly descend to the rugged Pacific coast. Here you will find
more interesting towns and villages and numerous swimming beaches and coves, including the
unique Hot Water Beach where at low tide you can dig a hot tub in the sand that quickly
fills from underground thermal springs. The best golf on the peninsula is also on the
Pacific coast: The Dunes Golf Resort on Matarangi Beach near Whitianga. |
