• Start at royal Oslo, Norway’s vibrant, modern
     capital at the head of the Oslo Fjord. Discover the
   royal palace, Oslo’s great harbor with its Viking
   Ship, Kon Tiki, and Maritime museums, and the
   remarkable sculpture of Vigeland’s Park.

• South to Kristiansand & Lillesand. Travel by car
   or rail (4-6 hours) west of the fjord to southern
   Norway and the pretty seaside resort of Lillesand
   (accessible by car only) or Norway’s southern-
   most city, Kristiansand. Coastal cruise boats will
   take you to near-shore islands. Discover Viking
   settlements, lighthouses, even Nazi gun
   emplacements. The seafood is always great!

• West to Stavanger. Drive or rail northwest (3-5
   hours) to Stavanger—former embarkation point

   for Norwegian emigration to the New World when Norway was poor, and a center of
   North Sea oil operations now that Norway is rich. Old Stavanger and the Vεgen
   harborside are great for strolling. Take a cruise to the nearby Lysefjord with its
   dramatic Pulpit Rock cliff.

• North by boat to Bergen. Travel by fast coastal catamaran from Stavanger through
   the islands and fjords of Norway’s West Coast to Bergen, famed second city of 7
   fjords and 7 mountains. Discover the lively (& walkable) Bryggen harbor district, a
   United Nations listed World Heritage Site.

• OPTION: North by Car to the Hardanger Fjord. Instead of traveling by boat to
   Bergen, drive your rental car (6-8 hours) from Stavanger on a dramatic fjord and
   mountain route (with 2-3 short ferry crossings) to the Hardanger Fjord. Stay at least
   one night at our small, traditional fjord-side hotel on the Hardanger. Explore this scenic
     region of fjords, mountains, waterfalls, and glaciers. Continue by car to Bergen (2-3
   hours).

• Explore the Fjords from Bergen. From Bergen, numerous optional side trips to the
   dramatic Hardanger and Sogn fjords may be arranged, including the famous "Norway in
   a Nutshell" rail + boat + bus excursion. Fly home from Bergen.
