THE ACCOMMODATIONS: Black Mountain Cottages are roomy, comfortable accommodations for
up to 6 persons on two floors of two beautiful Welsh stone farm buildings that are
side-by-side. The buildings have been carefully renovated to maintain the authentic stone
work and open beams. The two cottages sleep 4 or 6 comfortably in two and three bedrooms
respectively. Each cottage has an open living room, fully-equipped kitchen with dining
area, plus a full bathroom with shower. Both well-equipped, tastefully furnished cottages
include microwave,
stove, and color |
| TV. The
cottages share a secluded garden with table and chairs. There is private
parking next to the cottages.
THE OWNER/HOSTESS: The friendly owner of the cottage
lives in a separate part of the complex and serves as a welcoming, informative on-site
hostess eager to help visitors appreciate the history and charm of the area. |

THE SETTING: Black
Mountain Cottages are on a former farm estate on a hillside overlooking the sizeable town
of Abergavenny in southeastern Mid-Wales (see map). Abergavenny
has a great variety of shops, supermarkets, restaurants and pubs, a recreation center,
theater, parks, gardens, and a passenger train station, all about five minutes drive from
the cottages. With their impressive viewpoint over top of the town, these comfortable
stone cottages are the perfect Welsh home away from home. |

POSSIBLE: Located in the Black Mountains just north of the Usk River
valley, near the entrance to the Brecon Beacons National Park, Black Mountain Cottages are
well located for all kinds of outdoor pursuits: pony trekking, walking, fishing, biking,
climbing, river rafting, canal cruising, golf, sketching, and
sightseeing. |

THE LOCATION: Abergavenny is well located for touring throughout large areas of
Wales and western England. Within easy day trips are numerous castles and historical
heritage sites. The cottages are comfortable and historical accommodations in an ideal
location for those looking to find superb scenery, outdoor activities, Welsh history,
culture, antiques, crafts, open air markets, authentic Welsh cuisine, and a convenient
base for touring. Day trips throughout Wales, including visits to Cardiff, Caerphilly,
Tintern Abbey, Merthyr Tydfyl, the Brecon Beacons National |

and several of the great little trains of Wales, are reachable from the
Abergavenny area. Across the nearby border in England you can explore
Hereford, the Cotswolds (Worcester, Gloucester, and Oxford)
Shakespeare's Stratford-upon-Avon, Bath, and as far as Ironbridge in
