COMFORTABLE INTERIOR OF
A BLACK MOUNTAIN COTTAGE

THE ACCOMMODATIONS: Black Mountain Cottages are roomy, comfortable accommodations for up to 6 persons on two floors of two beautiful Welsh stone farm buildings that are side-by-side. The buildings have been carefully renovated to maintain the authentic stone work and open beams. The two cottages sleep 4 or 6 comfortably in two and three bedrooms respectively. Each cottage has an open living room, fully-equipped kitchen with dining area, plus a full bathroom with shower. Both well-equipped, tastefully furnished cottages include microwave, stove, and color
TV. The cottages share a secluded garden with table and chairs. There is private parking next to the cottages.

THE OWNER/HOSTESS: The friendly owner of the cottage lives in a separate part of the complex and serves as a welcoming, informative on-site hostess eager to help visitors appreciate the history and charm of the area.

THE SETTING: Black Mountain Cottages are on a former farm estate on a hillside overlooking the sizeable town of Abergavenny in southeastern Mid-Wales (see map). Abergavenny has a great variety of shops, supermarkets, restaurants and pubs, a recreation center, theater, parks, gardens, and a passenger train station, all about five minutes drive from the cottages. With their impressive viewpoint over top of the town, these comfortable stone cottages are the perfect Welsh home away from home.

ACTIVITIES POSSIBLE: Located in the Black Mountains just north of the Usk River valley, near the entrance to the Brecon Beacons National Park, Black Mountain Cottages are well located for all kinds of outdoor pursuits: pony trekking, walking, fishing, biking, climbing, river rafting, canal cruising, golf, sketching, and sightseeing.

THE LOCATION: Abergavenny is well located for touring throughout large areas of Wales and western England. Within easy day trips are numerous castles and historical heritage sites. The cottages are comfortable and historical accommodations in an ideal location for those looking to find superb scenery, outdoor activities, Welsh history, culture, antiques, crafts, open air markets, authentic Welsh cuisine, and a convenient base for touring. Day trips throughout Wales, including visits to Cardiff, Caerphilly, Tintern Abbey, Merthyr Tydfyl, the Brecon Beacons National
Park, and several of the great little trains of Wales, are reachable from the Abergavenny area. Across the nearby border in England you can explore Hereford, the Cotswolds (Worcester, Gloucester, and Oxford) Shakespeare's Stratford-upon-Avon, Bath, and as far as Ironbridge in Shropshire.
