Stockholm, home of Nobel prizes, with its lively old city,

is Sweden's capital and its largest city, home to the Swedish
royal family, and the commercial and cultural focus of Sweden.

Uppsalaless than 30 minutes from Stockholm
has maintained its medieval inner core town, home to
one of Europe's oldest and most respected universities.

Attractions in Stockholm: Gamla Stan (Old Town), Waterfront, Royal Palace, Landmark City Hall, Parliament, Museumsespecially the Vasa (Ship) Museum, Djurgεrden Island Park, Skansen Open Air Museum and Wildlife Park, Theater, Shopping, Cruises around the harbor, Cruises to nearby Baltic islands, and Cruises on inland Lake Mδlaren including one to Drottningholm Royal Palace.
 

Attractions in Uppsala:
Old Town Center, Canal, Scandinavia's Largest Gothic Cathedral, The University, Castle Fortress, Botanical Gardens, Viking Mounds in Old Uppsala, the "Lenna Cat" steam tourist railway.

Small, charming hotels and inns centrally located in Stockholm and in Uppsala, near transportation and services of all kinds.
 

Getting Around Stockholm: Various Transportation Passes (even a combination Transportation/Museum Pass) are available for guests for unlimited use of the Stockholm's excellent trolley, bus, and subway system. Stockholm is a city built on many islands, some connected by bridges, some by ferry services. Many of the islands are small, compact and very walkable.

Getting Around Uppsala: Uppsala is a small city, compact and very walkable. Those with rental cars will find considerably less traffic here than in

Stockholm. Rail services to Stockholm are very frequent—so take the train to the big city only 30 minutes away.

Getting to/from Stockholm/Uppsala: Rental Car (not recommended for Stockholm), High-speed Swedish Rail, International and Inter-Scandinavian Flights from Arlanda International Airport (serving Stockholm and Uppsala), International Ferry Services from Stockholm.
