HOME AT FIRST’s cottages in Northwest Wales are in the midst of superb scenery and ancient history, near the handsome town of Betws-y-Coed, at the northern edge of Snowdonia National Park, a scenic wilderness ideal for exploration on foot, on bicycle, on horseback, or by car. Our cottages have all the comforts of home, and are perfectly located as bases for day trips into the national park, and throughout North Wales.

In our customers' own words—

"Keith so liked the views from the living room that I though
he would suffer withdrawal pains after we pack up! The cottage was walker friendly, with easy access to restaurants, a small grocery, and
the post office.

Live in a Land of Giants...

-
HOME AT FIRST’s Northwestern Wales cottages are surrounded by the superb scenery of Snowdonia National Park, a scenic Welsh wilderness with Britain's highest mountains south of Scotland. The northwestern corner of Wales rises sharply from the sea. Its folded landscape is home to great mountains with great hiking, expansive beaches, challenging seaside golf courses, impenetrable medieval castles, and friendly villages with unpronounceable names.

The great little trains of Wales reach into the heights of Snowdonia, into the misty vales of legend and myth, into tortured landscapes of slate and coal. Little trains aren't the only big surprises in Britain's smallest country—Wales is proof that good things come in little packages.

and Home to Kings and Visitors.

Northwestern Wales has had a long and often contentious history with invaders from the east. The Welsh and the English built great fortified castles here. Eventually, the English monarchy honored the Welsh by naming their crown heirs
Princes of Wales. The great English castles at Caernarfon, Conwy, Beaumaris, and Harlech stand today as a combined World Heritage Site listed by the United Nations.

In our customers' own words—

"Can you send us another catalogue? We just returned from
Wales last night and had such a good vacation that we want to start planning next year's vacation with you. Thanks!"

Live in a Land of Giants...
Should we bring the kids along? Are you kidding?! There are national parks for hiking, and steam train rides better than in any amusement park. Want history to come alive for your kids? Why not take them where so much history has been made? Wales has more castles of all kinds per square mile than anyplace in the British Isles. Worried about being away from McDonald's and TV? Don't be. Kids of all ages can get their burgers, fries and CNN all over Wales. Your kids like the water? Wales has three coasts lined with sandy beaches, plus some of Britain's largest mountain lakes and cleanest, wildest rivers. Ride a kayak or go white water rafting. Rather go biking? Wales has many of Britain's top mountain biking trails and marked, quiet, scenic road routes.
