WHY WE GO TO
BERMUDA — |

BERMUDA: Choice beach
chairs and
activities of all kinds await year round.
The choice is yours in Bermuda.
A few things Bermuda is NOT (and IS) |
|
Bermuda, an all-year,
cottage-based island destination, has great beaches, terrific
snorkelling, world-class golf, deep-sea fishing, English traditions with
African flair, a rich North American colonial history with a UNESCO
World Heritage Site: the British colonial fortress/town
of St. George’s.
Bermuda, in
the north-central Atlantic,
has with British roots, North American connections, and African, Native
American, Portuguese, and Caribbean influences. Known for golf courses,
pink sand beaches, a privateers’ past and an insurance-industry present,
this destination usually makes top-ten lists of highest gross domestic
product per capita in the world.
Visitors will
want to explore its fifty miles or so of main roads, but by law may not
rent cars. Buses go everywhere, and ferries offer short cuts across
bays, and some intrepid visitors choose to explore Bermuda by motor scooter,
as the weather is often ideal. Not that it doesn’t rain. And good thing
it does — rain water is the only source of fresh water on the island. |
|

Bermuda has dozens
of beaches, several islands, 9 parishes, and 2 main towns.
Home At First can arrange for lodgings wherever you want to be in Bermuda. |

WHERE WE GO IN
BERMUDA — LODGINGS & LOCATIONS |
|
BERMUDIAN
GEOGRAPHY: End-to-end by main road Bermuda is just
about twenty miles long from the northeastern islands of the World
Heritage Site of colonial St. George’s town and L. F. Wade International
Airport onto the main island, past the small, central, capital city of
Hamilton, to Bermuda’s southwestern corner, where the island turns north
and and connects to a chain of neighboring islands in a sweeping
fishhook formation ending at historic Royal Naval Dockyard and nearly
encircling Bermuda's Great Sound and busy Hamilton Harbour.
Nowhere on
Bermuda is far from the sea, the beach, fishing, boating, and water
sports. Nowhere is far from golf courses, tennis courts, and
walking trails. |
Home At First has quality
lodgings in locations
across Bermuda perfect for
couples, foursomes,
and
families of all
sizes and ages. |
|
Nowhere on Bermuda is far from a village |
|
|
or town, restaurants, shopping, galleries, and Bermudian
culture.
ACCOMMODATIONS:
HOME AT FIRST offers
cottages throughout Bermuda from historic St. George’s town, to central
island beach and bay locations near Hamilton city, to more distant
lodgings in or near villages on Bermuda’s western and northwestern
extremes. Wherever located, our accommodations are near public
transportation (bus and/or ferry), stores and restaurants, beaches, golf
courses, and activities. And, as with cottages and apartments at any
HOME AT FIRST
destination, our Bermuda lodgings have, as a minimum, independent
quarters for sleeping and lounging, private bathrooms, and well-equipped
kitchens (or, in some rare cases, kitchenettes without ovens). Most
lodgings also include furnished balconies, patios, private gardens, or
terraces, many of these with sea views. As self-contained lodgings,
nearly all have their own laundry machines. Those without their own
clothes washers and dryers have laundry arrangements available
through their landlords/hosts. Importantly, all lodgings come with the
welcoming, enthusiastic attentions of landlord/hosts, who are committed
to making your stay in their vacation homes delightful and problem-free. |
